God’s Love: A Love That Reaches Us First

There are many things in life that can make us feel uncertain. People change, circumstances shift, plans fall apart, and even our own hearts can feel weak at times. But one truth remains steady through it all: God loves us.

God’s love is not like the love we often see in the world. It is not shallow, temporary, or based on what we can offer Him. God’s love is deep, faithful, patient, and unchanging. Before we ever reached for Him, He reached for us.

The Bible says in 1 John 4:19, “We love Him because He first loved us.” That simple verse reminds us that God’s love is not something we earn. It is something He freely gives. He loved us before we had everything figured out. He loved us in our weakness, in our struggles, and even in our sin.

The greatest picture of God’s love is found in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” God did not just say He loved us; He showed it. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we see a love that sacrifices, forgives, restores, and gives eternal hope.

God’s love also comforts us in our daily lives. When we feel alone, He is near. When we are burdened, He invites us to come to Him. When we fall short, He offers grace. His love does not ignore our brokenness, but it meets us there and leads us into healing and truth.

Because God loves us, we are called to love others. Not just when it is easy. Not just when people agree with us. Not just when they love us back. As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His love in our homes, churches, workplaces, and communities.

God’s love changes everything. It gives peace to the anxious, hope to the weary, forgiveness to the guilty, and purpose to the lost. No matter where you are in life, you are not beyond the reach of God’s love.

Today, may we rest in this truth: God knows us fully, and He loves us completely. His love is faithful, His mercy is new, and His arms are open.
